Since joining the Association in 1976, there has never really been a rivalry between the New Jersey Nets and the New York Knicks, however that situation could change soon now that the Nets have relocated to Brooklyn. The NBA marketing team is doing their best to stoke the competition between the two clubs, as “Newsday” is reporting that according to their sources, the Knicks and Nets will play their first game of next season, facing each other at the Barclay Center on November 1. The sources also state that “TNT” will broadcast the contest, so the entire country will be able to watch the first “Battle Of The Boroughs Of New York” on television.
The paper also reported that their source revealed that the Knicks will play their home opener the following night as they welcome the Miami Heat to Madison Square Garden. New York’s season ended at the hands of Miami, as they lost their first round Playoff series to the Heat, this past spring. The entire regular season schedule, will be announced Thursday night on “NBA-TV.”
