All-Star point guard Deron Williams broke the news to the Planet, just after 7:00 pm EDT, on his Twitter Account, that he had decided to re-sign with the Brooklyn Nets. Williams wrote “Made a very tough decision today….” and underneath his words was the insignia of the Brooklyn Nets. The “New York Post” has reported that Williams will sign a five-year deal with the club, said to be just shy of the $100 million mark. The point guard met with the two teams he had interest in; the Nets and the Dallas Mavericks on Monday and apparently the moves that Brooklyn has made convinced him to stay.
The Nets had already received a committment that forward Gerald Wallace will re-sign with the team and they traded for Atlanta All-Star shooting guard Joe Johnson, earlier in the week. The Nets are also in discussions on a possible sign and trade deal that could bring the team Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard.
