Lin Does It Again, Knicks Win Three In A Row Wallop Wizards 107-93

New York Knicks starting point guard Jeremy Lin has taken New York City by storm and over the last three games he has done the same thing to his team’s opponents.  The player who has inspired Knicks fans to hoist signs at Madison Square Garden proclaiming “The Future Is Now” had another strong game along side the club’s starting center Tyson Chandler as the team won their third game in a row on Wednesday defeating  the Washington Wizards 107-93.

The team’s roster was once again depleted with forward Amar’e Stoudemire on personal leave after the death of his brother in a car accident and Carmelo Anthony sidelined with a groin strain. New York would get double-doubles by Chandler who scored a team high 25 points and Lin who added 23 points as five of the team’s players scored in double-figures. John Wall had a game high 29 points, however he got far too little help for his club to get the win.

New York certainly did not look like they were on their way to a victory in the first 12 minutes of play as they looked out of sync and failed to get an offensive flow going. With 35 seconds to play veteran Maurice Evans knocked down a pair at the line and the Wizards led 23-16 at the end of the period.  The Knicks found their shooting touch in the second and with 6:05 remaining Steve Novak buried a trey to put his team on top 35-33. New York would pull ahead in the final moments of the period as Lin hit a mid-range jumper with 38 seconds left and the Knicks  held the upper hand at 52-44 as the game reached the half.

The Wizards came out of the gate strong in the third and with 8:32 left in the quarter Wall sank an outside jumper to give his squad the lead at 56-54. The two opponents would trade the lead back and forth for the next few minutes; however New York would once again pull ahead as the period came to a close. Lin drove the lane putting the rock in the hole with 24 seconds on the clock and the Knicks held a 77-68 advantage at the conclusion of the period. The Wizards never came close to threatening in the fourth as the Knicks took the game handily.

Chandler had 25 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal while Lin scored 23 points, 10 assists, 4 rebounds, a block and a steal. Novak came off the bench with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal while Iman Shumpert added 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 assist. Landry Fields chipped in 16 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

Wall knocked down a game high 29 points, 6 assists, 2  steals, 1 block and 1 rebound. Trevor Booker was the only other Wizards player in double-digits as he scored 17 points and had 7 rebounds. New York now stands at 11-15 and they will host the Lakers on Friday while Washington has a record of 5-21 and they will welcome the Miami Heat to town on Friday.
