Durant Scores 39 Points As Thunder Ends Grizzlies Season With 105-90 Win

Kevin Durant bounced back from a lackluster performance Friday night; as he knocked down a game high 39 points and helped the Oklahoma City Thunder to send the Memphis Grizzlies home for the summer on Sunday as they won game seven of their second round Post Season series 105-90. The victory sends the Thunder to the Western Conference Finals matching up against the Dallas Mavericks. Mike Conley scored 18 points for Memphis while Zach Randolph had a double-double as he added 17 in the contest but the Grizzlies did not have enough fire power to really challenge Oklahoma City.

Neither team looked impressive on the offensive end during the opening period but the Thunder would be just a little better. James Harden split a pair at the line with 21 seconds left in the first putting his team on top 21-17 at the conclusion of the quarter. The game would be close through the early portion of the second until Durant drained a 23 foot trey with 7:11 remaining giving his team the upper hand at 31-23. The Grizzlies would trail 42-34 as the game reached the half.

Oklahoma City would dominate the proceedings during the third and take over the contest. James Harden buried a 24 foot trey with one second left in the period putting his team in control leading 72-58. Memphis did come close to recovering during the final 12 minutes of action and the Thunder would win the game and the series.

Durant dropped 39 points, 9 rebounds, 3 blocks and 2 steals for the afternoon. Harden came off the bench with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists while Russell Westbrook racked up a triple-double scoring 14 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds and a block in the victory.

Conley led the way for Memphis with 18 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds while Randolph scored 17 points, 10 rebounds, an assist, a block and a steal in his last game of the season. O.J. Mayo put up 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and a block while Marc Gasol scored 12 points, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist. Oklahoma City will be in Dallas on Tuesday for game one of the NBA Western Conference Finals.
