NBA Names Derrick Rose Most Valuable Player

The NBA announced on Tuesday that Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was name the winner of the Association’s Most Valuable Player Award. Rose is the youngest player to win the honor in the history of the NBA. The guard in his third season in the Association helped Chicago to the best record in the regular season as they finished with a mark of 62-20. Rose played one season for Memphis before being selected with the number one pick in the 2008 NBA Draft.

The Bulls starting guard received 1182 points and 113 first place votes easily topping Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard who finished in second place with 643 points and 3 votes for first. Miami Heat forward LeBron James who had won the trophy the previous two seasons playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers finished in third place while Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant came in fourth.
