Derrick Rose knocked down a game high 25 points while Luol Deng added another 24 as the Chicago Bulls eliminated the Indiana Pacers from the Eastern Conference Playoffs on Tuesday night as the Bulls trampled over the Pacers 106-89. The victory for Chicago completes the first round series with the Bulls wining by a four game to one margin and they now advance to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.
Danny Granger scored 20 points in Indiana’s final game of the season while Tyler Hansbrough recorded a double-double with 14 points in the loss. The Pacers had a tough night offensively shooting just 39.2% (29-84) as they trailed by double digits at the conclusion of the first and would never really challenged their opponents in the contest.
The Bulls set the tone for the evening in the opening period. Rose connected on an outside shot with 25 seconds remaining and Chicago would hold the upper hand at the end of the quarter at 36-25. The Pacers were able to cut their deficit during the second as Dahntay Jones hit a mid-range shot with 33 seconds left in the period. However as the two teams went to their locker rooms when the contest reached the half the Bulls would still hold the advantage with the score 54-46.
Chicago would dominate the third pulling away from the Pacers early in the quarter and would soon lead once again by double-digits. The crowd at the United Center could sense a victory for their club as the game headed in to the fourth quarter with their team leading by an 84-65 margin. Indiana never came close to threatening their opponents in the final 12 minutes of play and Chicago went onto win the game in a rout.
Rose had 25 points, 6 assists, 2 blocks, 2 rebounds and 2 steals while Deng scored 24 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block. Keith Bogans put up 15 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist while Joakim Noah added 14 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists and a steal. Kyle Korver came off the bench with 13 points while Taj Gibson chipped in 10 points for the night.
Granger scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists while Hansbrough recorded a double-double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 1 steal. Roy Hibbert had 11 points and 5 rebounds while Dahntay Jones put up 10 points, 1 assist and a rebound in the loss. Chicago now awaits their next opponents as they will next play in the Conference Semi-Finals.
