The “New York Daily News” reported Wednesday that the New York Knicks got some good news as well as some disturbing news on the injury front as Amar’e Stoudemire appears to be ready to play Friday when the Knicks host the Boston Celtics in game three of their first round Playoff series but Chauncey Billups’ status is up in the air. Both players had an MRI performed on them on Wednesday and Stoudemire’s results showed that he just has a pulled muscle in his lower back. However Billups’ test showed that he has a sprained left knee and had fluid drained from it on Wednesday as well as received a cortisone shot.
Billups missed game two Tuesday night due to the injury while Stoudemire left the game in the second quarter and never returned to the court. Boston leads the series 2-0 with games three and four to be played at MSG.
