The Big Enchilada? Shaq Could Play For Mexican Team This Fall

Unifying a team, well-known for over-the-top gimmicks to attract fans and one of the greatest self-promoters in the history of the Association, could take place in the next couple of months; if a report from “ESPN.com” pans out. The website reports that Mexican League team Fuerza Regia, is talking with former NBA center turned TV analyst Shaquille O’Neal, about playing a few games for the franchise in October. O’Neal retired after the 2011 Post Season and began a new career as an in-studio NBA analyst for TNT last year. The Mexican League club is only looking to bring the legendary big man back to the court for a few games in October, according to the Team’s President Sergio Ganem.

Ganem, has said that the team spoke with O’Neal last month, when the “Diesel” was in Monterrey, when the former center participated in an event at the community center for children in wheelchairs. The President said that the club has been in contact with the big man by phone in the last few weeks, but a deal has yet to be reached. One stumbling block, could be O’Neal’s schedule as NBA preseason games take place in October.

Fuerza Regia, had Basketball Hall Of Fame Member Dennis Rodman, play a few games for the team back in the 2004 campaign. They have also had Sun Ming Ming, a 7’9″ native of China on the roster to gain attention. The club opened their campaign on September 4, hoping that they can bring some excitement to the franchise for a few games with The Big Enchilada.
