After stating in a recent interview that he was open to all options, but would have a hard time putting on a Los Angeles Lakers uniform; “ESPN.com” reported Wednesday night that veteran Free Agent point guard Steve Nash will be doing exactly that. According to the website’s sources the former two-time winner of the NBA MVP Award, has agreed to a sign and trade deal with the Phoenix Suns, which will send him to the “City Of Angels” to team up with All-Star guard Kobe Bryant. The report states that Nash will receive a three-year deal valued at about $25 million, which will fit into the Lakers salary-cap space, due to their trading Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks last year.
The Toronto Raptors had reportedly offered the veteran point guard a three-year deal earlier in the week and Nash was known to be in discussions with the New York Knicks. The move would give the Lakers their best back-court tandem in recent years and will most certainly please Bryant, who is said to have actively tried to recruit his longtime rival to join him in an attempt to win an NBA Title.
