Jrue Holiday scored a game high 26 points, Lou Williams came off the bench and added another 20 points and the Philadelphia 76ers outscored their hosts the Chicago Bulls by 22 points in the third quarter on their way to beating the Bulls 109-92 Tuesday night at the United Center. The Sixers shot a red-hot 59% (46-78) from the floor for the contest with six players in double figures.
Chicago owned an eight point advantage at the half, but Philadelphia’s performance after the break was too much for the club to overcome. The visitors held a 14 point lead heading into the fourth and the Bulls never came close to even getting back to within single digits of their opponents.
The victory for the Sixers ties the series at 1-1 with the action moving to Philadelphia for games three and four. Chicago not only was playing without Derrick Rose; who tore his ACL in game one of the matchup and is done for the season; they also received sub-par performances from Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng. Boozer scored only nine points for the night while his partner in the Bulls starting front-court could only get eight points in the game.
Joakim Noah led the way for Chicago with 21 points while John Lucas came off the pine and had 15 points in the loss. With Rose not an option for the team; Boozer and Deng will have to pick up their production to avoid the number one seed in the Eastern Conference from exiting the Post Season in the first round.
Holiday knocked down 26 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal while Williams scored 20 points, 6 assists, 2 steals and a rebound. Evan Turner had 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists while Elton Brand added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks. Andre Iguodala and Lavoy Allen both chipped in 11 points in the game.
Noah had 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal while Lucas came off the bench with 15 points, 4 assists and 1 rebound. C.J. Watson scored 12 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds while Richard Hamilton added 10 points and 5 assists for the evening. Game three will be in Philadelphia on Friday.
