Attempting to put what he labeled as false rumors to rest, Chicago Bulls All-Star point guard Derrick Rose spoke to reporters on Wednesday, according to the “Chicago Tribune” about two published reports that stated that Rose asked his team’s management to go out and trade for Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol. The articles stated that the reigning NBA MVP went to the club’s front office and asked for the Bulls to trade veteran forward Carlos Boozer and backup point guard C.J. Watson to Los Angeles in return for Gasol. Both the Chicago guard and the Los Angeles big man are represented by NBA agent Arn Tellem.
The Chicago star categorically denied the reports, stating that he has no wish to see his current roster broken up. Rose told reporters “That’s something I wouldn’t say to anyone, that I need someone to come to this team or I’m trying to get rid of someone on this team. It was all false. I’m good with the teammates I have.”
The point guard also told media members that he had spoken with Boozer and denied the rumors to his teammate directly. Gasol has been the subject of rampant speculation over the last few weeks and there have been various reports of him heading to many teams in the Association. The NBA trade deadline will take place this season on March 15.
