Dwyane Wade knocked down a game high 27 points while LeBron James racked up a double-double including 25 points as the Miami Heat won their sixth game in a row on Sunday as they dominated the Orlando Magic at the American Airlines Arena 90-78. Orlando once again went through offensive woes as they shot an anemic 36.5% (27-74) from the field for the afternoon with J.J. Redick putting up a team high 17 points while Dwight Howard had a double-double; however he only scored 12 points in the game.
Orlando would take the lead early in the second, but then their offense simply conked out as they could muster just 12 points in 12 minutes. The home team took full advantage of their opponents struggles and would take control of the contest by the half. The Magic never could recover and would trail by 20 points late in the fourth quarter.
Neither team looked particularly impressive in the opening period as Chris Bosh would hit a mid-range jumper to give Miami a 22-11 advantage with 3:48 to play. The Heat never scored another point in the quarter although they were still on top 22-19 heading into the second.
Ryan Anderson drained a 24 foot trey with 8:56 left in the second as the Magic took the upper hand at 27-24. The home team would go on an 12-0 run concluding with Wade driving the lane, putting the ball in the bucket and get fouled on the play with 3:43 remaining. After hitting his shot at the line his team would be on top at 36-27. Wade would complete another layup with 35 seconds in the quarter and Miami walked into the locker room at the half leading 43-31.
The Heat would never be threatened by their opponents in the third as they never allowed their opponents to get closer than trailing by 9 points. Udonis Haslem hit an outside jumper with one second in the period putting his team ahead 70-54 at the end of the quarter. Back to back baskets by James with 3:06 in the game would give Miami an 88-68 cushion. The Magic ended the game on a 10-2 run to make the final score more respectable.
Wade scored 27 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 assists and 2 steals in the victory for the Heat. James knocked down 25 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 steals while Haslem came off the bench with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
Redick had 17 points and 1 assist to lead the Magic. Howard put up 12 points, 15 boards, 3 assists, a block and a steal while Quentin Richardson came off the bench with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 1 assist. Miami now stands at 25-7 and will host the Kings on Tuesday while Orlando has a 20-12 record and will play in Milwaukee as they take on the Bucks on Monday.
