Where Will Superman Land? Howard Reportedly Will Sign With One Of Four Teams

As I have written many times on these pages; in today’s NBA there is Dwight Howard and then there is every other center in the NBA. The Orlando Magic man in the middle is a throwback, he is a man who could have stood toe to toe with Russell, Chamberlain, Malone and Olajuwon. In an era that has very few dominating centers “Superman” truly towers over his rivals, which is why his impending Free Agency has caused such a stir in the Association. He can opt out of the last year of his deal and become a Free Agent at the end of the upcoming campaign, causing some franchises to practically salivate with anticipation.

The “Orlando Sentinel” has  reported that according to their sources, D-Howard has narrowed his choices down to four teams that he would sign a new deal with. The 26-year-old big man has chosen his current team the Magic, the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Jersey Nets as his four possible destination spots.

Although much had been made that Howard requested Orlando to trade him last week, he has let it be known that he would re-sign with the club if he feels there is a chance that they can be serious contenders for an NBA Title. The team that took the Magic to the NBA Finals has been broken up by trades and Free Agency. Orlando would seriously have to re-stock their roster in order for them to get back to the elite status they were at a few years ago.

The Lakers could offer Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum in a trade for the Magic center. Bynum although talented tends to  get injured almost every season. Gasol proved that he was by no means soft against the Magic back in 2009 when the Lakers defeated Orlando in the Finals.

New Jersey has one of the most talented young centers on their roster in Brook Lopez, whom already has exceeded most expectations foisted upon him when he came out of Stanford. The young man will only get better barring injury, as time goes on and has the potential to be an All-Star. The Mavericks could put together a package including Shawn Marion or Lamar Odom or possibly both. Howard is said to be very good friends with Dallas All-Star Dirk Nowitzki.
