File this story under the heading “Exactly What Was He Thinking?” The “Associated Press” has reported that former NBA player Darius Miles was arrested Wednesday, after trying to board a plane at Lambert Airport in St. Louis while having a loaded gun in his possession. A spokesperson for the St.Louis County Jail says that the former player was booked and then released. No charges have been filed against Miles at the present time. The weapon was apparently discovered during a security screening as he attempted to board the plane; there has been no information released on the type of weapon or how Miles was concealing it.
The Los Angeles Clippers drafted Miles with the third pick in the 2000 NBA Draft directly out of high school. His athleticism and enthusiastic attitude on the hardwood would soon make him a favorite with Clippers fans. Miles was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers for point guard Andre Miller, where he never really seemed to fit in. He would be traded about a year and a half later and injuries hampered his career. The 29-year-old native of East St. Louis last played in the Association in 2009.
