Tuesday the NBA revealed their schedule for the upcoming 2011-2012 campaign; barring an extended Lockout the season will open on November 1, with a twin-bill on TNT. The first game will feature the Dallas Mavericks who won their first NBA Title this past season hosting the Chicago Bulls. The second contest will take place at the Staples Center as the Los Angeles Lakers play host to the Oklahoma City Thunder. ESPN will broadcast a double-header the following evening as the Miami Heat will be in Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks; and in the second game the Lakers will play again this time in the Bay Area as they match up against the Golden State Warriors.
Christmas Day will once again be a busy one for the Association as three games will be broadcast that day. The first will feature the Boston Celtics in the “Big Apple” as they face the Knicks on ESPN. A rematch of this past season’s NBA Finals will take place in the second game as ABC brings you the Mavericks hosting the Heat and the third contest of the day will have the Bulls in the “City Of Angels” to play the Lakers.
Both contests between the Heat and the Mavs will be nationally televised as well as both games of perhaps the greatest rivalry in the Association as the Celtics battle the Lakers. TNT is scheduled to broadcast 52 games next season, while ESPN will have 75 contests on their airwaves and NBA-TV will show 96 games during the regular season.
