Artest Will Change Name Legally To Metta World Peace

Following in the footsteps of former NBA star World B. Free and Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco, celebrity website “TMZ” has reported that Los Angeles Lakers veteran forward Ron Artest has filed papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court to have his name legally changed. The forward whose birth certificate reads Ronald William Artest Jr. has petitioned the court to have his name changed to Metta World Peace. The Lakers forward filed the paperwork on Thursday and cited personal reasons for desiring to have his name changed. The court will hear Artest’s case on August 26, at which time the name change will become legal. Artest has stated that he will want his new last name Peace to be on the back of his uniform jersey.
