After calling the Miami Heat “classless” earlier this week Dallas Mavericks guard DeShawn Stevenson looked none too classy himself as he was arrested for public intoxication according to a report from “ESPN.com” Tuesday night for public drunkenness. According to the report Stevenson was found wandering around an Irving, Texas apartment complex that he does not live in and was said to be intoxicated and had no idea where he was.
Stevenson was charged with a Class C misdemeanor after failing a sobriety test at the scene. The Dallas guard was said to be cooperative with the police and was taken to the police station and charged. He was released at 5:30 am Wednesday morning after paying $475.00 in bond . A spokesman for the department John Argumaniz said “They felt he was a danger to himself and others. Basically, he was intoxicated to a point where he didn’t feel comfortable letting him walk away or leave. They didn’t have any other options at that point.”
Stevenson and the Mavericks defeated the Miami Heat for the NBA Championship Sunday night in game six of the NBA Finals. It was the first title won by the team in the franchise’s history.
