The Miami Heat are now 8-0 at home in the Playoffs after coming from behind to tie the game in the fourth quarter and defeat the Chicago Bulls in overtime Tuesday night by a final score of 101-93. LeBron James had yet another strong Post Season performance as he knocked down a game high for Miami while Chris Bosh had 22 points for the night. Derrick Rose led the way for the Bulls with 23 points while Carlos Boozer recorded a double-double with 20 points. Luol Deng also added 20 points for Chicago who now have their backs against the wall as they trail in the Eastern Conference Finals by a 3-1 margin.
The Bulls offense was firing on all cylinders early in the opening period but it would stall out after Ronnie Brewer hit a basket with 4:22 left in the period putting his team on top 19-8. They would not score another point during the first and Miami would cut their deficit to 19-16 at the end of the quarter. The Heat would pull ahead in the second leading 37-28 as Dwyane Wade drove the lane putting the ball up and in with 5:43 to play. The momentum would shift back to the visitors down the stretch as Luol Deng buried a 26 foot trey and as the game reached the half they would hold a 46-44 advantage.
Chicago would retain the lead throughout the third and would have the upper hand with the score 68-63 at the conclusion of the period. Miami went on a 9-1 run to pen the fourth and soon held a 72-69 lead. The two teams would keep exchanging possession of the lead throughout the period and an extra period would be needed as regulation ended with the score deadlocked at 85-85. Bosh hit a pair at the charity stripe to put the Heat on top at the beginning of the overtime period and the Bulls simply ran out of gas as Miami would go on to win the game.
James scored 35 points, 6 assists, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals while Bosh had 22 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Wade put up 14 points, 5 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals and 1 assist while Mike Miller came off the bench with 12 points, 9 rebounds, an assist and a steal.
Rose led the Bulls with 23 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. Boozer scored 20 points, grabbed 11 boards, 3 assists and 1 steal while Deng added 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 2 assists and 2 blocks. The action returns to the “Windy City” on Thursday for game five.
