The Oklahoma City Thunder jumped out to an 11 point lead over the Memphis Grizzlies during the first 12 minutes of play Tuesday night and would go on to win game two of the Western Conference Semi-Final series 111-102. Thunder All-Star forward Kevin Durant led all players with 26 points in the victory while Russell Westbrook had 24 points for the night. Mike Conley scored 25 points for the Grizzlies while O.J. Mayo came off the bench with 16 points. Oklahoma City knots up the series at 1-1 with the victory.
The Grizzlies offense would stall out in the first and the Thunder took full advantage of the situation leaving their opponent in the dust. James Harden knocked down an outside shot at the buzzer putting Oklahoma City on top 28-17. Memphis would recover their shooting touch during the second but they would only erase a single point from their deficit. As the two teams left the floor when the contest reached the half they would trail 54-44.
Mayo would score 5 points in the last 1:10 of the third quarter and got his team back into the contest by the end of the period with the score 76-68. Eric Maynor opened the fourth burying a 23 foot trey and the Thunder would go on to control the final quarter and win the game handily.
Durant scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and an assist while Westbrook had 24 points, 6 assists, 3 steals and 2 rebounds. Harden came off the bench with 21 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, 3 steals and a block while Maynor put up 15 points, 3 steals, 2 assists and a rebound.
Conley dropped 25 points, 8 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal while Mayo had 16 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal. Zach Randolph scored 15 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks while Marc Gasol racked up a double-double with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 5 blocks, 3 assists and 2 steals. Sam Young chipped in 12 points, 4 rebounds and a steal in the loss. The series now tied at 1-1 moves to Memphis for game three which will be on Saturday.
