Dwyane Wade racked up a double-double including a game high 26 points while Chris Bosh also had a double-double with 22 points as the Miami Heat got past the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night by a margin of 97-91. The victory gives Miami the win over the Sixers in their first round match-up as they would take the series 4-1. However each game was a battle for the Heat including the final game which was in doubt until the closing seconds. Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala each scored 22 points in the Philadelphia loss with Iguodala also recording a double-double in the contest.
Mario Chalmers played off the bench in this game but got the majority of minutes at the point guard slot and was Miami’s leading scorer in the first half. He would drain a 28 foot trey at the buzzer in the first putting his team ahead 27-23. The two opponents would exchange the lead back and forth during the second quarter. However Wade would knock down a mid-range shot with 11 seconds remaining and when the two clubs left the floor at the half the Heat would be on top 45-42.
The Sixers would take the lead with 4:03 left to play in the third when Iguodala slammed the ball through the hole followed by a shot at the line by Jodie Meeks who completed a free throw on a technical foul on Miami. But the lead would soon shift back to the Heat and they would hold the advantage at the end of the quarter with the score 72-65. The two teams would battle until the final seconds as Philadelphia kept closing to within one point of their opponents. But they just never were able to get any closer and Miami would win the contest and the series.
Wade had 26 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, a block and a steal while Bosh knocked down 22 points, 11 rebounds and 1 steal. Chalmers scored 20 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds and a steal while LeBron James had a double-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and a steal.
Iguodala recorded a double-double as he put up 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists while Brand added 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, a block and a steal. Thaddeus Young came off the bench with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist while Meeks scored 12 points and Jrue Holiday chipped in 10 points for the Sixers. Miami moves on to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals and will host the Boston Celtics in the first two games of the match-up.
